


It currently works for Windand above so if you are still running on a Windows 10 version that’s below you should upgrade your computer now. It’s available through the Store app but is essentially a command-line tool that runs through the elevated Command Prompt window when launched. Microsoft says there is a better way, by releasing a free built-in Windows File Recovery Tool for all Windows 10 users. Up until recently, if you accidentally deleted a file that has passed the recycle bine and you don’t have the backup to restore from, your best chance is to use one of those 3rd party file recovery tools and take your chance there.
